Starting in Spring 2019, San Antonio College will launch the SAC Campus Revitalization Project (CRP) which aims to “give new life to the SAC community.”

The CRP includes various campus beautification projects, construction projects, the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and the Campus Master Plan—a multi-year plan that imagines a brand new entry to campus.

The first major project will be to construct SAC’s third parking garage. Parking Garage #3, which is slated to open in Spring 2020, will add 500 spots to campus.

In addition to the new parking garage, Phase I of the CIP includes building a new home for the Early Childhood Center and Early Childhood Studies program and the John L. Santikos Micronauts Center, a new center focusing on ‘cradle-to-college’ STEM pathways, which also was awarded a $500,000 grant from the San Antonio Area Foundation earlier this year.

The CRP will be funded in large part by the general obligation bonds approved by voters in May 2017. SAC’s $83 million will be used to update and upgrade several existing buildings and build new construction.

The Campus Revitalization Project is going to have a major impact on our campus with multiple road/parking lot closures,” said Dr. Stella Lovato, vice president of college services. “We are doing everything now to inform the SAC community so that everyone is prepared.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2019. A launch party is tentatively scheduled for late January and will be announced soon.
