SAC Names Chair of Math, Architecture, Physics and Engineering Department

San Antonio College (SAC) has selected Mathew Kerns to be department chair for Mathematics, Architecture, Physics, and Engineering. Kerns replaces Said Fariabi, who retired during the summer after a 27-year career at the college.
Before coming to SAC, Kerns taught math at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan, and at Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, New York.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 2012. He received a master’s in education, with a concentration in classroom teaching and mathematics education from Wright State University in 2013. In addition, Kerns obtained a master of science in pure mathematics from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida, in 2017.
