SAC Receives $2.6 million in Department of Education Grants for Student Support Programs
September 18, 2020
The Department of Education has awarded two grants for the combined amount of $2.6 million to continue funding for student support programs at San Antonio College. The grants are from the Department of Education’s TRIO program, which funds initiatives designed to help low-income students, first-generation students, and students with disabilities. The grants will run for five years.
SAC currently houses two TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs – one to assist student veterans and the other for STEM and Allied Health majors.
“The TRIO SSS programs are valuable resources for SAC students. Their goals align with the mission of San Antonio College – empowering our students for success in the classroom and in the community,” said Dr. DeWanna Greer, director of SAC’s TRIO Veterans Support Services
SAC’s SSS programs have been serving students since 2015. Each SSS program has offered support for 120 students every year.
